I dabble in data science. We have very little reliable data by which to base decisions, and we are locking down society over it. I'm not saying that the measures we're taking are wrong - only that we don't have the data to drive rational decisions. Only time will tell. My hope is that we figure it out soon and are able to salvage world economies before long-term damage is done. It may already be too late.
