The insulated bag is for the commute. It's to get the food TO the fridge

Obviously! What's wrong with that? Then it's just easier to put the whole thing in the fridge. It'll still stay cold, and it's just easier than unpacking the lunch. It's also easier to transport food in a container with a little handle rather than walking around with two tupperware containers. It's not just for the insulation.
