No, leave BYU because he's got no reason to stay.
There's no reason to stick it out if there's no social reason to stay and you figure either you get drafted and get a nice salary, or you don't and you end up in Europe making as much coin as you would with an undgrad finance degree (I believe that was his major). And why stay for a degree if you think pro basketball is the future? Someone tells him his draft stock won't improve because he's getting older and all of a sudden he figures there's no reason to stick around. For some hope of a championship and the experience of playing 2 more years in college would have been attractive, but apparently not for him. Trying to figure out why given he didn't look like NBA material to me. I think wanting to go back to Italy is as good a reason as any I've heard.

My point was maybe, just maybe, he and the wife figured worse case scenario they end up in Europe again together making decent money.
