That was the key for me. By cutting the cord, my family has made better choices
at what they watch. No channel flipping, no stupid MTV or E! programs, no watching just what happens to be "on". My teen still watches tv series that she likes (The Office, Fringe, Lost, etc) but avoids so much garbage that is out there that she might otherwise watch just because it's playing at the time. Same for the rest of the family.

We still watch (too much) TV through Netflix, Amazon, and some OTA channels. But it's clear that we do better at choosing which content to watch.
