If the point is "life is better overall when you're married with kids", I won't
quibble. That's legit. But that doesn't really have anything to do with grad school. All things equal, grad school is easier if you have fewer non-grad school responsibilities.

I'm glad I don't need to figure out picking a mate anymore. But having a wife and kids makes SO many other decisions in my life so much harder. Where to live, what job to take, how much time to spend at work, what to save for, where to vacation, etc.

It's a lot like when I was an undergrad, I heard people say "I wish I could go back to college, that was so carefree." I thought they were full of crap and didn't remember what it was like to have homework and deadlines hanging overhead. But 10 years on, I understand the nostalgia. Life was way simpler.
