Let's not kid ourselves - both Logan and Spencer Fano are good, talented football players and would be a boon to the team if they wanted to be at BYU.
But Logan didn't want to be at BYU from day one, just went there to make his grandpa happy. And now the comment is made that BYU players don't miss him, because he was a terrible teammate. Which isn't surprising since he didn't want to be there and inherently wasn't as invested.
And this is a concern in the new NIL era where it's easier than ever to overwhelm a kid with cash and change their mind, get them to a place that they normally wouldn't choose.
This will be the hard part, both in football, but particularly for BYU basketball and the huge NIL we're throwing around. It needs to be more about providing a competitive path that allows kids who like BYU to attend, more than about getting kids to go against what they really want.
Note that I'm not saying this is or has been a problem so far, just that it's a tough line to walk, especially when there's so much NIL to throw at players who are legitimately talented
