was asking a few questions at the confluence of football and the church. He said he figured most of our players were members of the church, and that considering what he'd noted the demographics of our faith to be, he'd expect BYU to have a hard time recruiting ... skill position players. 😄. I told him we recruit such players just like any other major program, those recruits come into the program knowing it's a little different, and that those "skill position" players' mamas LOVE BYU for the positive environment their sons are a part of. He laughed at how much that made sense.
He was very surprised when I told him that much of the team is Polynesian, and we get our fair share of skill position players from their ranks, and that there's a huge Polynesian community within our church.
But that made me realize, I don't actually know % LDS vs not, % haole/poly/black etc.
I seem to recall that used to be put out in the yearly team prospectus, but a cursory googling didn't yield much.
