crowd sourcing my response to my daughter:
My oldest daughter got married in April, so she's coming up on about 7 months. They're both at BYU. My daughter is hoping to get into the nursing program and my SIL is on the premed track. Both very bright kids. Couldn't have asked for a better SIL (though he could love BYU sports a little more haha)

Neither of them work, and they both have taken out student loans. My SIL's rational is that BYU is so cheap, he might as well take out loans and pour all of his focus into his studies. He's getting great grades and will do well on the MCAT I'm sure. He says "I'm gonna have a ton of loans anyways for Medical School, so why not?" I've talked to them about this, but some really trusted folks told him to go this route. Anyways, that's not the point.

Last week, my daughter called my wife crying, saying they didn't have groceries and was worried. I think she was overreacting. We live 30 minutes away and they come here once a week at least to eat dinner. My wife jumps in the car, picks her up, and proceeds to spend $300ish at COSTCO. I don't care too much about the money, it's a lot, but if it was helping my girl, then so be it.

BUT, last night my daughter excitedly facetimed my wife telling her that they had classes get canceled on Friday and they were going on a spontaneous trip to Disneyland for a few days. They are going with another couple and staying at one of their parent's places in Southern California. 3 day park hopper tickets.

On the one hand, I am super happy for them. I think it's great to do fun things like that while you're still young and free. On the other hand, they just took $300 worth of groceries but had plenty of money to go galivant around Disneyland???

Am I being a grouch? Should I just be happy for them? Am I enabling this?

What should my response be? Anything at all? Just well wishes? Help me!!!
