Our band director just sent out a message about HB 415 which goes into effect in January which will ban school fees from being collected from any class that receives a grade. On its face, great. No kid should have to spend money for an education. But programs like marching band require tens/hundreds of thousands of dollars to run and exclusively from student fees. Districts won’t fund these programs when they’re already underfunded.

Man, if this is true, I’m heartbroken. Anybody know anybody who can influence getting this delayed or overturned or amended to allow for electives to collect a fee?
