in 3 years time. So no...the long term outlook on QB isn't horrendous.

But 2024? YIKES. These are the guys competing for QB1:

- former juco QB who held no P5 offers before coming to BYU, in 4 games last year completed 50% of his passes and posted a sub 100 passer rating. YIKES

- game manager who last played meaningful football 3 years ago, got beat out by a mediocre QB (shapen) and then transferred to and lost his starting job at a 10 and 11 loss G5 school. Is now coming off major shoulder surgery. YIKES

- 5'10 sophomore with no competing P4 offers (as a QB) who put up ok stats for a mediocre Mountain West team. YIKES

As for Lugo, he will not contribute in 2024. It is very rare to contribute as a true freshman QB. It is even more rare to actually be above average.

So yes...the QB room is looking REALLY bad in 2024.
