Yeah, but those buyers can all look at their cute bubble-utes and buy those. For those of us who want body-on-frame
choices it sucks they are all the same car. To me, they don't look different at all because the facia and "style" are superficial, it's the platform that determines how it drives and can be modded. They aren't different at all.

To me, it's the same as a single cab and a quad cab F150. I don't look at them and say "Yeah they are different trucks". Because they aren't. And F150 and an F250...those are different trucks. And F250 and an F350? Same truck, just different spring pack.

GX550 and 4Runner? Same truck, just different motor option and body style.

Right now, I own a Tacoma, a GX550 and an LX470. They are all completely different vehicles, completely different chassis, drive differently, different strengths and weaknesses, and I use them for different tasks.

On these new SUVs? There is absolutely NO reason for me to get 3 of them. They are all the same. I'll buy one (probably a used GX or Land Cruiser) and then get a Rover or a Jeep. Life (and $$) is too short to own 3 of the same rig.

I mean, the Toyota designers didn't even bother to give the retro looking Land Cruiser a rear tailgate, which is almost a sin. It's as if the designers didn't even try.
