We just got back. A few tips. We used Google Fi for cell phones. I had a spare
Iphone that I activated and used just for our trip with unlimited plan, only $65 compared to around $100 with Verizon. We used hot spot for all the other phones and turned off service for them. It worked great.

If you rent a car, use a credit card with rental insurance. Saved me $2k from a cracked windshield and door dent. Train travel is very easy too.

Bring room to take home lots of chocolate. I wish we bought more. It's so good and so cheap there compared to buying Swiss chocolate here.

We saved a lot staying at rentals. They were all great. Remember to pay the tourist fees.

Bring a good water bottle. There are fresh water fountains running in every town with the best water you've ever had. Maybe my favorite thing about Switzerland.

Eating there is expensive no matter what, but deals can be found at grocery stores. Tipping at restaurants is %5-10. No need to pay more. Get lots of fresh bread and pastries at bakeries. Pizza is surprisingly good there. Try a doner and brats. Rosti was my favorite traditional Swiss dish.

Switzerland is amazing. Leaving is the worst part.
