The crazy thing to me is how the world revolted when Star Wars Battlefront 2 did it and Reddit basically shut down the
game - then 2 heart beats later everyone did it.
Yes I’m mad about BF2 dying. The last game I was good at.

Mario Kart World will cost $80. Probably will result in an industry movement to increase prices

That is what it cost to buy mortal kombat 2 on SNES at ToysRUs back in the day

I’m pretty sure even NES games were $50 in the 80’s

Pretty crazy considering how successful F2P games have been.

F2P games are successful because they rely on microtransactions

I realize you are an adult but my kids all play the $5 games more than the $50

Only $50 if you get it with the Switch 2 bundle.

I think the $70 price being considered stagnant ignores the in game purchases

That’s a very good point, although there are also a fair amount of F2P games now

That's a lot less than doing the dumb Mario Kart ride at Universal.

with ease of distribution I'm guessing they sell multiple times as many copies

Looking at this list, the highest ones have digital distribution or were bundled

Oh, there’s no doubt this will sell like crazy. Just an FYI that it will likely lead to increased game prices overall.

For sure. It's a weird mental barrier for me when you get over $50, even

Another factor... retailers must take a pretty big cut, right?

Many companies are moving to digital only and still charging more.
