This kind of logic always breaks apart on the reality that if it had been a

close game then the four free technical points that Bama was gifted would have been decisive - and while this wasn't the case last night, it sometimes is and it could have been last night -

so it's legitimate to discuss egregious officiating when it happens even if it wasn't decisive in the game in question.
