early and catch up to them, it changes the dynamic of that game. Players tighten up when there is more at stake with each shot, which drops their percentages. If the Alabama guards tighten up and miss a few of those early second half shots that they made, that game is a lot different through the rest of the second half.
That is one reason why the technical on Knell and then the blocking call on Knell mattered. It killed our momentum to get back into that game early in the second half. Given Alabama's overall talent, we had a small window there and the officiating in that short stretch closed it. And, no, the refs did not cause us to lose that game. I thought the game was actually officiated pretty well throughout. But, it did close that small window for us. The only way we were going to be able to compete was for their perimeter shooters to tighten up and start missing some shots. We never threatened enough to make that happen.
