After 12 hours of cool off, these are my thoughts
Holy Crap. They shot the lights out. Yes we could've had better defense (especially in the first half) but they still have to knock down their shots and boy did they do that. Mark Sears is next level. Now we know what it feels like to get Jimmered. I thought Mag and Trey did a lot better of a job on him in the second half but even the best shooters don't knock down every open shot but he did. I was more worried about Grant Nelson than him and I couldn't have been more wrong. But when we started locking up on Sears, Holloway started to heat up. They just have so many guys that we can't cover them all. I will never know why or even if KY told everyone to go under screens. They must've thought they would regress to the mean and I think we all did. But they never did. They have so many weapons and are a very similar team to us. A hot night from 3 and they can beat anyone. A cold night from 3 and they can lose to anyone.

Offensively I wasn't too disappointed. I think we obviously could've shot better from 3 but we pounded the paint and it worked. You just can't trade 2s for 3s. I know KY is a big analytical guy so that would make me think he would go in shooting more 3s. I am curious what analytic gave him his game plan. I am not saying it was bad I am just saying it is not what I expected. Heir Richie was great as we expected. Egor has really stepped up in the tournament which makes me think he is gone. Mag was disappointing and couldn't knock down shots. I don't know what Dallin and Bosko were doing but they didn't bring any good, offensively or defensively, to the team last night. The big stage might've gotten to Dallin's head but clearly he wasn't ready for the moment.

Nonetheless a season for the ages and one I will never forget. Unfortunate it had to end that way and that will be most people's lasting memory of this team. It shouldn't take away what KY has done this year and what a great coach he is. I am just more and more excited for the future. He is going to bring so much good (and hopefully trophies) in the near future. This was a historically great season and one I will never forget.
GO COUGS!!!
