Growing up, it was Jim McMahon Steve, Young Marc Wilson, Ty, Detmer, Danny Ainge, Greg kite, Fred Roberts, Todd Christensen, Mike Smith, etc. etc.

BYU football was knocking down big teams top 20 teams and they were in conversations….brought home a national championship 1984.

Danny Ainge took BYU to the elite along with a very good team that included Greg Kite and Fred Roberts who both played About 10 years in the NBA. Trumbo was also a very good rebounder and a great player.

If Fred Roberts and Greg Kite had not played with Danny Ainge everyone would be talking about them all the time. They both played 10 years in the NBA…both very big contributors on good teams. Ainge overshadowed them at BYU and in the NBA ….. he was in the finals every other year his whole career. He also retired as the all-time NBA leader in three-pointers.

Then Devin Durrant what’s the leading scorer in the nation.

A few years later, Mike Smith and Company were ranked like second in the nation at one point. They were on the national scene.

The Boston Celtics were taking every BYU player in the first round of the draft it seemed like.

Later Rick Mjeras had his run at Utah with the running Utes.

Urban Meyer had his stint (stent came later) with Utah football ….Whittingham was the recipient of inheriting that program…..thus had some good years in the Pac 12 a weakened Pac 12 no less. Stanford UCLA and USC were all reduced programs while Utah was there.

Jimmer comes to Provo and I don’t know what happened there but he freaking exploded his senior year.

Utah football was good regionally for a few years….although they were getting pac 12 money, their basketball program pretty much has always been pretty weak since Big Rick was last in town.

Dave Rose and Steve Cleveland rebuilt BYU basketball and it has been a pretty decent product for a long time

Now that there is money in place… it’s legal to use the money and we are in the XII ….Utah is not even mentioned in the same breath with BYU not even close in any sport or any way shape or form.

Tom Holmoe is a quality human being and does a wonderful job at everything he’s done in his life.

Shane Reese is a STUD!

BYU are obviously back as the undisputed big dogs around here. Cougs are also in national conversations when it comes to football and basketball and they are one of the big dogs in the Big 12.

They would’ve been one of the big dogs in the Pac 12 the last 30 years if they had been in there, but oh well That’s all in the past….Including the Pac 12. If BYU had been in the Pac 12, it would’ve never dissolved. You can’t dissolve BYU!

Future looks great for BYU.

BYU football should’ve probably been in the playoffs last year and they probably could’ve won a game at least.

BYU basketball was one win away from the elite eight with one heck of a team and a wonderful coach. Big-time college basketball concerns are Kevin Young and BYU.

AJ D is coming to Provo next year!

Demin is a winner… whether he comes back or not he will always be connected to BYU… great kid! He will have success!

The present is a freaking blast… hold on. Next year we are likely ranked in the top 10 or 15 pre-season. This is one heck of a ride! Enjoy!
