1.) our 3 point defense wasn’t good. Alabama was one of the first teams we’ve played whose offense could run completely on the outside of the 3 point line. It seemed like our defensive scheme and players weren’t able to contest 3s. Seemed to me more of a scheme issue.

2.) the first half of the year, while byu was getting its offensive identity, seemed like we ran half court sets quite a bit. As we progressed, our identity became a transition bucket team. Houston was able to get in front of us and Alabama did the same. Seemed like Alabamas players were contesting shots and intimidating our players all night forcing us into an identity we didn’t want to be. Next year, we either need to be a more physical team or figure out how to run plays.

3.) can we protest officials? Can we request to never have Padilla again? I did think after that terrible technical on knell, he was better though. But it did disrupt the game.

4.) Noticed Keitas rebounding wasn’t quite as good last night. I think because we haven’t played a 3 first offense in a while. I’m confident The % of 3s taken was higher than any team we’ve faced so far and Keitas position didn’t make him too eligible for those rebounds.
46.2 % of alabamas attempts were 3 pointers.
48.5 % of BYU’s attempts were 3 pointers.

5.) if we are going to compete with the Houston’s and Alabamas of the world, we will need more athletic players. Sure, our 3 point shooting was off but if you didn’t think always having a large 7 footer in your face had nothing to do with it, I’d strongly disagree. Alabama looks like I’d love to look in the future. I thought it was interesting how many games Alabama scored over 100 this year,

Absolutely proud of this team. We are at a place byu basketball hasn’t been in a long time and The future is bright. everyone played exceptionally well this season and I’m excited to see what the team and coaching staff brings next year. Stinks to end the season in an L but every team has that except 1. Happy to be bounced by Alabama. Great team.
