go under the screen on everything? That was the dumbest display of a defensive game plan I can ever recall. Hedge on the drive so deep that you can't get back on a simple kick out or skip pass? Dumb, dumb, dumb defense.
Even if you give up twos by going over the top and force contested twos AND THEY MAKE EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM, guess what? The other team STILL scores 25 fewer points.
What was the final margin of defeat? 25.
If you think it was a good game plan, and Alabama just had "one of those nights". How many threes does it take until you stop going under the screen and mix it up? It should be one at the most - maybe two if you're a slow learner. That's how I always coached. I would get ultra aggressive against the other team's shooters until they were not hitting. I didn't care if I gave up three free throws here or there. And it worked almost every time - certainly that type of strategy would have been better tonight than what BYU was doing.
I get that Alabama is really good, but I've never seen a defensive strategy on a team full of shooters that gives the other team the greenest shooting light in the history of college basketball.
That game plan needs to be incinerated and buried at the bottom of the ocean. I never want to see that ever again.
I am sick to my stomach right now.
