about these characters and not by simply doing one of the 2 following things:

1. "Hey look! This is the guy from the comic book so you should care about him!", or

2. "Hey look! This person is a [fill in the DEI quota here] so you should care about them!


The point is, as long as they provide engaging character arcs and and a decent plot (that feels connected to the rest of the MCU without making audience members feel the need to watch 20+ other movies to understand what is going on), I think fans will come back to the MCU. Many of the phase 4 movies seemed to fail on these fronts.
