I was in early grade school and the show kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. And yeah - we all thought McQeen was the coolest in his character.

The movie did a great job of telling the story even though they altered parts of what really happened.

My mother’s brother’s bomber was shot down over Germany with just a few months left in the war. He survived being a POW but would never talk to anyone about it. We were told to never ask him about it. He was a great guy, graduated as an engineer from U of WA and retired from Boeing thirty years later.
