Let's not pretend they are close to Houston on D, not even close. They are very close in advanced metrics to VCU and Wisconsin in defense.
They don't turn you over and they are poor at defensive rebounding. BYU struggles with turnovers at times and is a good rebounding team. Both teams can obviously score and Alabama has length, but the length doesn't concern me a ton. Length usually forces turnovers and rebounds well. They are a good 3P defense team, but BYU has taken whatever the defense has given them this year. If they want to chase BYU off the 3 point line and give up 2s, BYU will take the 2s, whch BYU has scored at a very high rate this year.
BYU will score, but can they keep up with the fastest tempo team in the country. We will see. If shots are dropping and BYU can slow down Sears and crew, BYU very much has a chance to win this one.
