Everyone has things they're passionate about and things that they need to do. For most of us the two don't really cross over. So it's a great thing to learn, when you're young, how to manage the balance between things you need to do (work, money, family) and thinks you're passionate and excited about (BYU sports, fishing, cars, woodworking, etc). Work at it and you'll find a healthy balance so you don't feel like you have to have a bad experience with your passion to do well at the things you need to do.
And if you're lucky, you'll find work that will correlate to your passions. If not, you'll manage.
