They hate BYU on the one hand - don't support it or even cheer against it. Want nothing to do with it or what to be lumped in with it.

But when they complain (almost always when BYU is kicking their butts) they state "it's hurting the image of the church!" or "sacred funds shouldn't go towards sports" or "you can buy anything with money" - they take an "ownership" in BYU only as a method of trying to legitimize their complaining on behalf of their fandom.

And then you watch them discussing which apostles are most likely to get rid of athletics at BYU (and maybe praying silently that they live longer than the less righteous BYU athletics supporting leaders).
