How do I recover a disk that I accidentally reformatted?

I accidentally reformatted the wrong drive. It had installed games on it that I can reinstall, but my kids' minecraft worlds could be lost???

Recuva is a program that works with deleted files, and sometimes formatting, it’s worth a try
