the transfer portal and how it is being handled. Some solutions may include signing contracts, the old sacrificing some eligibility for leaving, compensation to the school that the player left from, maybe even salary caps.
It used to be a lot more affordable for a school to compete in division 1 college basketball, but now the financials are becoming more like football because of the transfer portal and the SEC have taken advantage. Even though BYU has the resources to compete, we will always have something more to overcome which is a much smaller pool for head coaches. So far i think we have as good a coach as anyone in KY.
Shopping in the portal is fine if you have the resources but i also wouldn't mind putting more emphasis on good old fashioned high school recruiting and being able to develop players. But who am I to complain when my team is able to do both? Do we really care about the obscure little guys making cinderella runs even though we might have been more in that category at one time? A lot of people say it benefits the sport, but football does just fine without it. If it comes down to it, they might have make tournaments like the NIT only for the little guys.
