It’s a pretty terrible point by Clay Travis, and not even comparing the same things.

So this opening round of the single elimination college basketball tournament averaged 3.1m viewers, which is presented here as a massive win. Games on broadcast and cable.

The opening week of the opening round of the 7 game series (lower stakes, lower per game ratings) NBA playoffs last year averaged… 3.17m viewers. A tournament that lasts 2+ months. Games on broadcast and cable. Not as big of an “event”

But I get this wasn’t a point about basketball by him and is actually a point that belongs in a different category.

Let’s get our news elsewhere.
