We saw this last year with Richie and Dallin. Athletes are now being paid market value, so it doesn’t hurt to test the water and see if a better opportunity is available.

Most of us have looked at other jobs while still working at our current job. It is beneficial to see what else is out there, and sometime re-confirm that you do indeed want to stay where you are currently. The grass isn’t always greener elsewhere.

I hope we don’t assume that when a player enters the portal that they are gone. Give the players the space to explore, and some of them will still choose to play for BYU.
