Guess what? That’s us now.

Seriously we’ve gotten guys like Fangupo and Kaveinga from USC for example. We tell ourselves that they decided they really wanted to be at BYU and have the BYU experience. I think that’s often true. But in at least one of those aforementioned cases, being stuck behind a future high round draft pick in the NFL was also a prevailing factor.

If we continue on the trajectory that KY has started in year 1, this is going to be our norm. We’re going to have 4 star guys get beat out for playing time by other players and leave the program.

I hate to see players go when we come to like them and when you can see obvious upside which they have a very good shot at realizing. But it’s gonna happen over and over in today’s college sports landscape. We lost three good guys last year and a blue chip recruit. We replaced them with a Sweet 16 lineup that’s still alive and kicking in the big dance. It is what it is.
