We were just outside of Pigeon Forge. We did a day at Dollywood and it was much better than I expected. Moderate lines, great theming/architecture, many good roller coasters, and a beautiful setting. We also did the Dolly Dixie Stampede or whatever it’s called. The kids liked the horses and it was good if you like dinner shows. And the national park is worth hiking in if that’s your thing. The Smokies are lovely.
We actually skipped Gatlinburg proper. There were tons of attractions, kind of like Branson, but it was a bit too crowded for me, plus we were with a large family reunion and had other things to fill those days. But it looks like there’s plenty to keep you busy if you like that sort of thing.
