The way the rule is written:
Baker intentionally decided to split the defenders who both had established themselves.
By splitting the defenders and hitting one player in the groin, it was determined he intentionally tried to split the 2 defenders, even though he was not purposefully trying to hit the guy in the groin.
Make sense?
Not really, because the rule is poorly worded, and needs to be revised
