Assuming Demin goes to the NBA, and nobody else transfers out, BYU returns a core of six players who were part of the rotation this year: Hall, Saunders, Baker, Keita, Catchings and Boskovic. If those six all return they all will play significant minutes. Obviously, Dybantsa will likely start and play a lot. I expect both Crawford and Kozlowski to step into more prominent roles in the rotation. With those 3 the rotation includes 9 players. I expect Staton to see some minutes each game-not a huge amount but I expect he will get 5-8 mpg. Finally, the expectation is BYU will look to land a transfer that has multiple years of eligibility. I don’t expect that player to start but I would expect he will also see minutes off the bench so he has some experience for the following year when BYU is likely to be far more dependent upon him. So all in all I expect BYU to utilize 9-11 players in the rotation. I don’t foresee Mboup as a part of that until 26-27.
I don’t know who the defensive stopper will be. I am hopeful that Crawford and Catchings can do some of that dirty work but next year’s team will be different and one change KY will have to figure out is how to defend well enough as a team without Mag and Stewart as he just may not have players able to replicate those two.
Overall, I expect BYU to be at least as good as this year. Especially if BYU returns everyone mentioned above.
