saw from them, and maybe the coaching job that you’ve seen from Kevin Young in his first year with the program.”
ANSWER: “Yeah, he’s got really good players. You know, that makes good coaches. I’m a good coach because I’ve got really good players, you know? It doesn’t happen by accident. He’s got good players. Saunders is really good. I came out and watched him warm up. The ball comes off his hands really well. Denim really as a freshman at that size you can tell what he’s been trained in the European ball screen stuff from Russia. I’ve said, I thought Mag has improved. We played against him in Rutgers for four years and he was just a defensive stopper there. You know, Keita, I thought, has gotten better since hes come from Utah. So, you know, and the other guys, you know, the other guys are doing a good job at filling their roles. Boskovic kid had a big 3, you know, down through the lineup. I mean, Knell did a good job. Banged down some threes when they needed them. But Saunders was, you could tell is a gamer. He’s a winner. I mean, 6 offensive rebounds. Kid knows how to play, and when you’ve got a guy like that, and I’ve got a lot of them too that play with the heart and the energy and the unwillingness to lose, you can do a lot of good things, and they’ve had a good year and they get to keep playing.”
Long story short, he wasn’t avoiding the question. He was saying all these players have grown so much this year.
A couple of points:
1) The question was a horribly-worded compound question.
2) He asked about the team first and what he saw from them.
3) He said KY has good players, which makes him a good coach, and that doesn’t happen by accident.
Please quit the “put-upon” attitude. He was fine for a man who just got his dreams ripped out of his hands.
