I’m not sure we appreciate this enough. The only reason this dude is not a really promising 43 year old NBA HC is because the BYU job became available—and this guy was like … “yeah, I would rather make the money I can make that BYU is willing to pay me, and have my season end a few months earlier at BYU than they would if I was SUCCESSFUL in the NBA.”
We are SOOOO lucky! He’s 43! And he’s been there and done that. He has accomplished in his first year what Dave Rose, who was in his seat, did only once in his hundred year tenner—with Jimmer—only once. And what the current coach of KENTUCKY was never able to do.
And we might have him for awhile!
If you can’t appreciate the situation our hoops program is in right now, you might simply lack perspective. It is a great freaking time to be a Coug!
