My wife commented a few years ago ..."I LOVED school when I was kid. I really like schools when our first kid started. NOW, after 4 kids in the public schools, I am SOO SICK of them. If I never ever step foot in the school again, that would be great!!"

I think part of why Teacher's Unions are soooo hated now, why school districts are getting attacked, why so many people are just thrilled to have the Department of Education abolished.... is that schools are and have been failing half the population for decades, and NOW those people are voting and making up the public that says "Schools stick and I hate them"
