I sat behind our ROC band in Denver Thursday, my observations:
Our ROC band is led/directed by a man who appears to be in his 60s. He is quite the stoic.
The music selection was stale classics from previous decades...Sweet Caroline...etc
The VCU band, on the other side of the arena, played more upbeat, modern songs. Their leader appeared to be in his 20s or early 30s. He had a lot of energy. VCU band had, for lack of a better word...swagger.
I'm not a musician but I know what a good pep band sounds like, and the ROC band doesn't have it. Maybe time for some new leadership.
