Our stake had a campout that night on this beautiful lake. We all gathered
Around the campfire and Neil Monroe, A very young stake. Young men's president played this on the radio and we all listened to the fight in our minds through the voice of Howard Cossell. That fight connected the entire world.

I was just a few months shy of 11 years old. Dad made "Dutch oven snot" for dinner, which was bacon, potatoes, hamburger, onions all mixed in together. Cooked in a dutch oven. To this day my favorite food, with the glorious "only at scout camp" name.

40 years later I was called a stake president, they put you in a room and give you 15 minutes to choose your counselors, with no question, Neil Monroe now 70 was called as a counselor and placed over the young men of the stake.

How the world has changed, boxing was the king of all sports then, now it's a footnote to UFC. Camp Schoelkopf and so many other camps are sold and gone as is bsa.

But that beautiful night will live in my memory forever.

A few years ago my wife and I watched a movie about George Foreman's life. I became A forever fan of him then.

RIP George Foreman.
