I lost a small part to a do-dad this week.. I managed to launch it across my kitchen and was never seen again.
I called up the local Salt Lake dealer and said:
"ACK! I lost part#[xxxxx]. Can I order another?".
The dealer replies: "I think so, but I'll have to have my specialist look in the parts catalog. I'll have him call you in the next 15 minutes" (click.. call over).
6 hours later I got a call back from the dealer
"I can get you that part.. but I need you to bring your do-dad down to the store. We'll need to verify its serial number."
I ask "Can't you just order the part number I gave you, I'll pay for it now" ( <-important to know it is only an $8 part )
"No, you didn't purchase the do-dad from us... so we can't do an order over the phone"
I hang up and call a dealer in Vegas whom I have purchased other do-dads from in the past..
"Hi, I lost a part"
The Vegas guy
"I'm on it!"
3 minutes later I got a text with a picture of the part taped to the back of his business card and a photo of a FedEx overnight envelope.
Vegas: "It's in the air now!"
Me: "How much do I owe you?"
Vegas: "Nothing! Have a great weekend!"
The Vegas guy will always have my business. I don't understand how the Salt Lake store stays open.
