The last time BYU played in Denver (the Jimmer year), I was living in Utah and made the trip out to Denver to see BYU play. I remember it being a little expensive, but I will never forget that trip. It was an absolute blast and it was definitely one of the best sporting experiences of my life. It was right up there with seeing Detmer beat No.1 Miami in Provo, playoff tickets on the 15th row to see the Stockton and Malone Jazz sweep Shaq and Kobe's Lakers (who were favored by some of the talking heads), and season tickets for Steve Sarkisian and Luke Staley's special seasons. In terms of a single event, though, watching Jimmer's team beat a very good Gonzaga team by 22 points live will always be special.
My brother and I got tickets to the Wofford game (round of 64) and because airline tickets were crazy expensive between SLC and Denver that weekend we drove out and stayed with family in the area. We spent all of our pennies on game tickets and food, which was surprisingly tasty in the venue. BYU kind of just snuck by Wofford, but then beat a very good Gonzaga team by 22 points. The first round games feel a little empty because they sell tickets for the entire day and a lot of people just come to watch their team and leave so there are patches of empty seats all over, which felt strange given what was at stake.
The second round game was a different story as the place was packed and absolutely hopping for the BYU Gonzaga matchup. It was the loudest neutral site game I've ever been to and it was a complete blast to watch.
BYU won't play in Denver for its opening round NCAA games with a high seed very often, so I encourage anyone to seize the moment if your circumstances allow.
