I don’t know much about VCU this season but years ago when Shaka Smart was the coach, they were a tenacious defensive team. They pressed full court and played at a high tempo. As an official you were constantly on the run. I have to assume they are playing a similar style of defense under Ryan Odom, who came from Utah State, and they average about 8 steals per game.
Looking at their stats they do like to shoot from outside despite having some size on the team. They shot 33% from the arc. Some of us will remember their leading scorer, Max Shulga, from when he was at Utah State. He followed Odom. VCU likes to spread the floor and get open jumpers.
BYU will have to get off to a good start to control the tempo of the game. This is also a game in my opinion, Traore could be a big factor. I would expect him to have double digits in scoring.
