End of regular season grades:
-KY gets an A+ for late in the game recruiting for this year and 2025 recruiting
-KY gets an A+ for putting together a great staff
-KY gets an A+ for program management/spokesman. The PROvo identity is a game changer. In addition, I feel proud that he is our coach every time I hear him interviewed
-KY gets an A- for x's and o's Overall a good job spreading for threes and attacking the rim. Especially great calls coming out of time outs. Would be an A+ but didn't like some areas: didn't like the way Canon progressed this year. He needed to either catch and shoot or use his handles to get to the rim. Couldn't get him do that on a consistent basis. Also, thought it was a mistake to bench him the last part of the game when he was on fire. That can't be good for your psyche. Don't think he was the same after that. Feel like Canon's progress was the difference of great team to a special team potential. Also felt like Bosco should have had a bigger role at the beginning. His problem seemed to be a lack of familiarity. He struggled because he didn't have as much experience playing with the starters. Also, I don't know if it was due to injury but it seemed obvious that Hall needed to play down hill more at the begining of the season.
-KY gets a A- for playing time distribution. For the most part, he is able to put the right guys out there to get wins. I did think it was a no brainer to play Mag at the beginning of the season (maybe health issues prevented this) Our 1/2 court offensive at times was stagnant. When we were really good is when we got into transition after defensive stops. Mag and Stewart were great catalysts.
Team Grade = A they found ways to win games. Started off iffy but finished very strong.
Individual Grades:
Egor=C His court awareness and passing was exceptional for a freshmen. He didn't handle pressure well and continued to make unforced errors that were costly. His score making and shooting suffered do to confidence issues.
Saunders = A+
Hall = A- (leadership, ball distribution, late game guts) negatives (hesitancy and free throw shooting)
Knell = B Shot a high 3 pt % but not consistently effective against aggressive pressure defense
Baker = B- Started off slow with inconsistent performances. Lately upping his game
Mag = A- Shut down defensive made us a different team with good 3 pt shooting as a bonus
Keba = A His rim protection and lob threat and offensive boards have been elite. Offensive skills keep him from utter dominance
Catchings = B- His pure high release jump shot is unstoppable when he is on. Sky is the limit. However, struggled to catch and shoot. Head scratcher because I thought he could do this at will. Also, struggled with dribble penetration and team defense (normal for a freshmen).
Bosco = C. Looked lost with his early opportunities but has been a help down the stretch.
Stewart = B Has been a great spark in the latter part of the season.
Fouss = B+ At times has been dominant. Height vs length has been a challenge

Thought on today's game
-we looked better this time than the last time we played. There were times in the first game where we couldn't even get off a shot off. This game we just couldn't make the shot.
-Houston is very good but they shouldn't absolutely dominate us like they have the last two games. I give credit to Sampson.
-Houston is physical in subtle ways like when the guy guarding our big pushes him out higher when he is trying to set the screen at the top of the key.
-Houston likes to blitz the high pick and roll. The guy that is initially open is the screener. However, Keba and Fous can't do much damage from that spot. We attacked this situation much better today but still not able to make them pay. Wish we could do 3 things differently with our high pick and roll : 1 set better screens.. 2. Have the guy with the ball have the ability to do something with the dribble. Loved it when we had Saunders handle the ball on the pick and roll 1st Iowa St game. 3. Have the screener be someone that can hurt the defense when they blitz the ball off the screen deep in the court.
-Thought our defensive blitzes have improved. We got turnovers that led to points
-To beat Houston we have to hit open looks. We started off slow vs Iowa St (1st game and WV and Utah and they didn't take advantage). Houston is too good to miss open looks.
