hurt a team during the season during a game or two, but more than anything it prepares a team to handle that sort of game where the refs just swallow the whistles. The team needs to be able to adapt to however the game is being called by matching the aggression of the opposition if necessary or, at a minimum, knowing how best to handle it outside of whining to the refs.
I don't think BYU will be surprised at any random team's aggression during the first round and few teams will be able to do it as effectively as ISU or Houston.
