It underscores the fun, quirkiness, and amazing drama that a huge encompassing tournament can bring to crown a champion. There are so many memorable moments and you find yourself rooting for teams you have never heard of. Some that stick out in my mind:

-Jack Gohlke and Oakland Golden Grizzles making a deep run in the tournament (who may have had an indirect influence on KY coming to BYU)
-Sister Jean and the Loyola University's success in the tournament
-George Mason's run to the final four
-RJ Hunter hitting a game winner versus Baylor and his dad (the coach) breaking down
-Northern Iowa's half court shot
-Adam Morrison's melt down
-UVA making history (in a bad way) by losing to 16th seed
-Jimmermania
-Mateen Cleeves
-Watching in the 90s a dude named God Shammgod play
