Would you be suspicious of a new dentist who immediately recommends heavy work?
I haven’t needed any real dental work in years and am not in any pain. I believe the small cavity he showed me is likely legit, costs like $20 with insurance, but they then also added on a plan to shave down the enamel around an old filling and completely replace with a costly crown. Along with an expensive new mouth guard to prevent teeth grinding at night. Would cost me in total around $1,000 and include two additional appointments.

I’m going to get a second opinion, but what worries me is the first thing I saw when I walked in this office was someone else at the front desk clearly going over an extensive treatment plan and looked like they were trying to sell her on the cost.

What would make you trust the dentist and what would make you unsure in this situation?
