Oftentimes money dysmorphia is what drives people to become high net worth.
But it all seems to boil down to how people built their wealth (or at least how they perceive they built their wealth).

If someone thinks they built their wealth by pinching pennies and driving hard bargains they will tend to be stingier.

If someone has more of an abundance mentality about wealth, they will tend to be more generous.

I know plenty of wealthy people who have been very generous with me over the course of my life.
