First game I watched live again was Cincinnati.
I was very impressed with the improvement. The absolute blowout was not replicable, you can't plan on shooting 60+% from 3.
But I thought: "Dang, our offense just looks better. And we've figured out the peel switch... defense looks smooth and is holding them down, being disruptive. forcing tough shots..."
My only concern was how would we do if we shot a normal 3-point percentage.
Enter tonight. Baylor shot better than we did. And they're a dang good team. But we consistently played well. On offense, we had great ball movement, took great shots, scored outside and inside, looked comfortable, attacked the basket, passed well. Defense looked great, contested shots, made it tough.
All I have to say is: KY is a good coach. I've seen progression in the team, and inindividuall players.
- Catchings actually starting to look a bit polished. When I left for a month, I liked his shot, but he jacked it up and occasionally I questioned his shot selection. At times he looked uncomfortable. He's looking honed in now, what a shooter!!!
- Egor was a T/O machine when I left for Europe, even though you could see he had the passing potential. He's taking care of the ball much better and looks much more comfortable. His great passing is more of an asset than a risk now. SO MANY GOOD PASSES.
- Richie is a stud and the absolute general.
- Baker is looking so good.
- Fouss and Dallin are still Fouss and Dallin.
More examples too, but those were just off the top of my head.
KY is a fantastic coach, develops players and teams. I'm very excited about it.
