In many ways, grocery delivery makes economic sense.
I just placed an online grocery order with Walmart. I don't enjoy going inside of Walmart to shop, but their online grocery pricing appear to be the same as the in-store pricing, and many of their non-household items are also available for delivery with the grocery delivery.

A $35 order qualifies for "free" delivery with my Walmart+ account (which I get as a credit card perk). A $5-8 minimum tip is about 14%-23% of the total. So my delivery cost is $5-$8.

I could save the $5-$8 tip by driving to pick up the order myself. But that would entail me driving 10 min each way and waiting about 10 min for my order to come to my car. That's 30 minutes of my time spent driving and waiting if I pick it up.

Is saving 30 minutes of my time worth $5-8? Absolutely.
