"Good morning, thank you all for joining us. The University of Utah has had a proud history of athletic participation. Whether it be the 1998 NCAA Basketball Tournament Championship Game loss, the 2021 & 2022 Rose Bowl losses, or even games we didn't lose, like the 2008 Sugar Bowl. After a challenging and fantastically embarrassing inaugural season in the Big12, the board of trustees has decided to, forgive the painful analogy, 'draw the curtains' on the entire athletic program. We apologize to the dozens of Ute faithful that this will disappoint. For the rest of the football fans, we expect fairer weather for you cheering for the Utah Hockey Club or whomever is playing against BYU. We feel that the best course of action is to end this embarrassment for all of us.
We'll now take your questions....as long as they're not about Coach Whittingham retiring."
