why should be recited correctly.
McQueary told his dad, who told him he should tell Paterno.
McQueary met with Paterno, and shared that he witnessed Sandusky doing something of a sexual nature with a boy. He did not share details with Paterno, "Out of respect for the longtime coach."
Paterno, a second hand witness, said the following to McQueary: "I'm sorry you had to see that" and that he had "done the absolute right thing." The head coach appeared shocked and saddened and slumped back in his chair, McQueary said.
Paterno told McQueary he would talk to others about what he'd reported.
9-10 days later, McQueary met with two University officials (AD Curley and University Vice President Schulz). Schulz oversaw the Penn State police department. McQueary knew this, and testified that he felt in meeting with Schulz that it was like meeting with the head of police.
Thomas Harmon, Chief of the Penn State police department, testified that Schulz never communicated with him regarding what McQueary had shared.
Lots of other details of course, but I'll say that somehow Curley and Schulz often get forgotten, when in reality, those two, who promised to address the situation and were the ones with the greatest responsibility to do so, often get forgotten.
That doesn't exonerate others of their obligations by any means.
