next to the Lot 5 grass field parking.
Here's the catch. I was there for the BYU-Texas home game. There was severe rain and flooding that delayed the game. The streets were flooding - there was a river running down University Pkwy through the traffic. The Lot 5 grass field parking was a complete, muddy mess. BYU staff wouldn't let me park there and it was dark and pouring rain. I didn't know where to go, so I parked next door where there were a bunch of empty parking spots. Again, it was dark and dumping rain. The parking lot was - may be - 10% full. I legitimately did not see - and could not have read in the dark even if I had seen it - the small sign in the strip mall parking lot that says customer parking only/tow away zone.
The game ended late and it was dark. I had two small children with me. We return to where I had parked, but no car. I thought my car had been stolen. All the businesses were closed. I called the police (not 911) and they informed me that my car had likely been towed. Sure enough, I was able to locate the small sign and read it with the help of my phone flashlight to get the number. Called the tow company phone number. Aye. Towed. Had to walk to the tow lot in the dark with my small kids - one on my shoulders.
I hate predatory towing...it is absolutely a predatory industry. They search out cars with expired registration stickers and label them golden opportunities.
